I have subscribed to this magazine for many years (via their own website (English version)) and I love this publication. Some of the ingredients may be hard to find outside France but having been lucky to work there for several years at least I know what they are! Many of the recipes are typically French and as such would be hard to find elsewhere. The articles are informative and highlight the differences in the culinary styles from region to region. The combination of information, presentation, human interest stories and wit was unparalleled-- in my opinion. With a year and half of my subscription left, they started sending me Bon Apetit as a replacement. Bon Apetit sucks! I can leaf through the whole thing in 10 minutes, not feel the need to linger or stop at any page...it's uninspired and dull. Again, my opinion, of course. The information and techniques I've learned have boosted my cooking to a whole new level. Seriously though, this magazine is everything I ever wanted in a cooking magazine (or any magazine, for that matter) and more. I had never even picked one up before. My first issue arrived a couple of days ago, and I must say that I am really enjoying it and look forward to future issues.
